The Cumberland-Green Lakes Resource Conservation & Development Council, Inc. is a 501©(3) non-for profit corporation that was authorized by the Secretary of Agriculture March 1973.

Vision & Mission Statement:
The Cumberland-Green Lakes RC&D is committed to enhancing the quality of life in south central Kentucky by helping our local people to help themselves and others.

The Cumberland-Green Lakes Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D) continues to strive in addressing the social, economic and environmental needs and concerns as identified by our communities on an equal basis.

2006 - Outstanding S.E. Region Award for Council Person of the Year - Ken Bean.

2005 – Outstanding S.E. Region RC&D Project (Clay Hill Memorial Forest)

2005 – National RC&D Award for Youth Involvement (Taylor County Conservation District Youth Board)

2004 – Outstanding S.E. Regional Award for RC&D Youth Involvement.

2004 – Outstanding S.E. Regional Award for Council Person of the Year – Pauline Barrier.

2002 – Commonwealth of Kentucky, Environmental Quality Commission Earth Day Award presented to Cumberland-Green Lakes RC&D for their work and commitment in preserving Kentucky’s Natural Resources.

1995 – Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Governor’s Environmental Earth Day Award presented to Coordinator J. Patton Green for outstanding service and commitment to Kentucky’s natural resources.

1994 – Soil and Water Conservation Society National Merit Award for outstanding conservation work in rural America presented to Cumberland-Green Lakes RC&D Council.

1993 – Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award for RC&D council’s involvement in Marsh Creek Watershed Abandoned Mine Reclamation Project in McCreary County.

1991 – Thelma Alexander, RC&D Clerk, received the Kentucky Outstanding Self-Development Award for her efforts in furthering her education in soil, water and natural resources.
