If you need to replace your melted intake plenum, use this one. This Dorman item comes with the required gaskets, and also includes a new pcv valve. The price is MUCH lower than any local auto parts store ($130) for the same item. If you plan on swapping this part yourself I would HIGHLY... -

ummm. ok anthony if its smoking at the pipe try adding some "honey" you can get it at auto zone, just do an oil change and add the honey or lucas oil into it and alot of times this will fix it.

Ours was one of the early 2010 RSV4Rs that underwent an engine replacement due to a connecting-rod recall, and there have been a few issues that hint at that. The swingarm pivot nut was found to be under-tightened, as was a radiator hose clamp, which allowed coolant to leak. At one point a fluke intake-pressure error code sent the bike into Level II “limp mode” halfway home from work, limiting speed to about 40 mph. The only other problem was a progressive one: Over the past 1000 miles it became increasingly difficult to find neutral. Ace Aprilia technician Alex Franz diagnosed the problem as a loose shift-shaft centering pin, which is a rare issue that has only occurred on a few hard-ridden bikes. If your RSV4 is less than two years old and develops this problem, the repair should be covered under warranty.
Beyond that, the Aprilia just needed regular oil changes and a couple hundred gallons of premium gasoline. I never logged enough street miles to wear out the stock Metzelers, but I burned through a head-high stack of race tires. The RSV4 preferred pointier tires like Michelin’s Power One Races and Dunlop Sportmax D211 GP-As best, but worked well on Bridgestone’s new R10 DOT race tires once we raised the front ride height.

I think I have an intake manifold gasket leak I am wanting to replace it myself with a buddy of mine who was a certified meachanic for 10 years BUT I feel bad because this guy always "helps" me on everything (i do 10% of the work he does the rest" so I want to do some series dissembling how difficult of a job is this I bought this car for $3800 new pain fairly good quality not macco but not a $4000 paint job all brand new leather seats and dash pad but it has 150,000 miles is that to much on one of these engines? should I just throw a crate in it....

I have a 2005 Mazda 6 with the 3.0L DOHC. I know that the timing cover leaks, but I also see oil under the intake manifold and on the slight shelf you see where the head meets the block. My question is, does the timing cover seal in such a way that a leak in the top side of it will go into the area under the intake or is does it mate to the block in a place where oil from it couldn't get here. I just want to know if the head gasket is leaking oil here. I am skeptical that the head is the source of this oil but just wanted to see if anyone else has observed and repaired this?
