A bit dated, and there are others which are better
This book is one of only a few in this field, and for that reason, it is worth reading. it is however showing signs of age, and doesn't provide a lot of hands-on info for those who want to modify their own engines. As a starting point, I would recommend AG Bell's books or Dalton's... -
Excellent book
The information in this book is just as relavant now as it was when it was written back in 1972. Physics is physics, after all. The book gave me a much clearer understanding of header theory. My only complaint is that Smith and Morrison obviously wrote this book for engineers, and I'm not one....

I can get the actual turbo, but i need to figure out how to make the manifold for a 1993 jeep grand Cherokee Larado. Do they sell them, or do you have to make them?
its a inline six. I know there's not much room on that side but, a friend...
you might want to post if its the 6 cyl or v 8 either way there is alot more to it than bolting a turbo charger on it if its the v8 you might want to look at super chargers if its the 6 cyl you will have a hard time since the manifolds are aon he same side which limits clearance

Chysler Shows New Hemi, Viper V-10 Crate Engines At SEMA
There’s an adage that there is no replacement for displacement, and Chrysler seems to be following it: the company’s Mopar parts and accessory division is launching two massive crate engines at its SEMA show display.
First thing’s first: the stand’s crown jewel is a new V-10 crate engine that clocks in at 512 cubic inches (8.4 liters) of displacement, 800 horsepower, and 695 lb-ft of torque. The engine, which should be familiar to Dodge Viper fans , is based on the late Viper’s 8.4-liter mill, but receives a forged steel crankshaft, forged connecting rods, and forged pistons. It has a redline of 7,000 rpm, although the thought of ten pistons of that size moving at that speed makes us a bit dizzy.
The engine is designed specifically for drag racing, but for those people who already have Vipers and want a slice of this power, Chrysler also announced a new Performance Upgrade Kit for owners of third-generation Vipers. The kit includes a set of aluminum cylinder heads, a new intake manifold with a larger throttle body, and different fuel injectors and rails. Once the kit is installed and the Viper’s ECU is reflashed, the 8.4-liter engine could make as much as 650 horsepower.

So let's say you were hypothetically trying to make a winter program where your middle school kids and the science high school got together and built an engine for your Daewoo racecar.
(realizing how unlikely this all sounds ...)
Then the hypothetical high school physics teacher mentions he'd really like to get a hypothetical 2,000 dollar grant from the local technology college but that we can't just build an engine this way, but must instead create a research project out of building the engine.
You are hypothetically excited to hear this and set about hypothetically trying to figure out how to make a 2 liter E-tech build into research project. You would like to end up with a functioning engine at the end of said research.
I am thinking of building and testing some intake manifolds from scratch. Good idea, bad idea, got a better idea?...
Car stuff: Sumflow guide to Intake manifold design
The almighty cathedral of Corvette power was limited by being squished between the heads of the V8 and the downward sloping front hood. If the ram tubes could have been made longer, it would help low end torque, because the velocity of air coming down a long tube would just pound into the intake hole. But if it was shorter it would not run out of breath as soon and run higher RPMs. There were two approaches to Fuel injection at that time, timed injection and continuous spray injection. Both now obsolete because of direct injection and the comeback of super and turbo charging. Here is pretty much the same design but with the air chambers laying horizontal instead of standing vertical. In this design they are not limited by the bonnet slope. You can see how the air box is extend wider than the ram tubes. That is because air flows the slowest where it touches the insides for the chamber. The end of the stacks must keep away from the...
