Good but not perfect
I bought this manifold for my 2000 Mustang GT, because the original manifold was leaking coolant around the thermostat housing and it had started running into the spark plug wells, which of course was causing misfires. Overall, the Dorman manifold seems to be of pretty good quality, especially... -
Great Quality, Great Price, and a performance increase to boot!
The stock plastic intake on my 2000 Mustang GT finally cracked right where the upper radiator hose attaches to the manifold. I needed an intake fast to get my car back on the road so I ordered the Dorman 615-175 manifold.I've read good and bad things about the Dorman VS the Ford replacement....
ok i've been having an antifreeze leek for the past week and last monday i found out that i need to install this part does any body know how to install it or knows of any website that can help me?
you need the intake mani and gasket to install it. hit up the ford or mustang forums on line. google "mustang forums" then search the forum with the search button for intake mani install (be careful those bolts need to be torqued down to specifications.
Should i be worried even if my thermostat does not read hot? So far it reads normal....

Engine overheating causes serious engine damage. In order to avoid the engine overheating:
Check the coolant level periodically. It should be at least at the "min" mark in the coolant reservoir. If it's lower, add the coolant bringing the level to the "max"

Visually, the quality of the Dorman 615-175 intake’s material and workmanship seems to be better than the Ford stock intake on my 2001 Mustang GT. The Dorman intake uses an aluminum crossover as opposed to the unreliable plastic crossover on the Ford stock intake (Ford corrected this problem in 2002). The Dorman intake also uses integrated O-rings instead of traditional gaskets, which simplifies installation and probably improves reliability (traditional gaskets is that they have a tendency to trap coolant between the gasket and aluminum cylinder head on the Ford 4.6 liter engine. Over time, trapped coolant can eat away the aluminum). Although installation required many steps, it was straightforward. I purged the fuel pump, disconnected the battery, drained the radiator, and removed the following: upper radiator hose, temp sensor, alternator, intake plenum, throttle, EGR, fuel injectors, ignition coils, and some emission hoses.
