i have a 96 honda civic ex and i know the civic comes with a stock 56mm throttle body so i was wondering if that big a change is bad for it.
You're not going to see any benefit when using the bigger throttle body. If you were using forced induction (turbo or supercharger) or you were running more a aggressive cam with higher compression pistons, they it'd be worth it.

Alongside the Honda Factory Performance and Honda Racing Development hardware at its SEMA stand, Honda invited three aftermarket tuners to assemble their interpretations of the 2012 Civic . With instructions to push the limits in terms of both performance and styling to showcase the customizing potential of the ninth-generation model, Honda ended up with three different wild child Civics.
First up is the Bisimoto Engineering Si coupe, packing 1,004 hp from a fully built and blown 2.4-liter K24Z7 four-cylinder engine. To make all that power, Bismoto bolted on a Turbonetics 72-millimeter turbocharger and intercooler. Helping to handle the stress of forced induction are a Golden Eagle sleeved block, an intake manifold, Arias forged pistons, upgraded steel rods, intake gasket, injectors and camshafts. A Holley billet fuel pump supplies the engine with VP Racing E85R fuel.
Chassis upgrades include a Steen roll cage, Eibach suspension, antiroll bars, 18-inch Eins Gramm wheels fitted with Falken tires and beefier StopTech brakes.
