very good product. I am seeing 1 and 1/2 mph gain and a noticeable increase in hp. why spend $200-$300? this intake is all you need.

thinking of getting a K&N air intake for my 05 mustang gt. Its the 57 series and states a 15.37HP increase tested on a dyno. my question is it worth the $300 in your opinion because everyone is saying there is little to no gain.

They don't tell you that the 15.37 gain is at the flywheel *with a tune*. The S197 cars do respond favorably to CAI's provided you get a tune for it. Without a tune, the gains are not that dramatic.

Is it possible to put a cold air intake on an 05' mustang? If so will it still hiss whenever gears are switched and will it hurt gass milage?
The "hiss" sound you are referring to is a "blowoff" valve used in turbocharged applications, A cold air intake will not give you this.
If you choose to install a cold air intake setup on your vehicle you will have to have a tuning shop recalibrate

@crappy60 Seeing as it flows that much more air than factory, it certainly does make sense to believe that a less restrictive K&N set up would allow more dirt to pass though. However, the K&N Filter started as a dirt track motocross race filter. The trick is in the advanced cotton fiber material and the pre use oil treatment the filter is given. These two combine to capture dirt and other particulates, while being thin and free flowing enough to give you noticeable performance gains....
