VALUE No one at Lexus is talking about prices yet, partly because the car is still more than four months from Australian roads and partly because the company does not want to alert its German rivals to its plans.

It's fair to expect a pricing spread from just below $70,000 (for the GS250 that's still to be confirmed for Australia) to $79,990 for the cooking-model GS350, to about $115,000 for the GS450h.

The bottom line means good value, as an $80,000 price tag will really stick it to BMW and Benz and there is a lot to like in a list of standard equipment that includes great leather and aircon, brilliant Mark Levinson sound, the usual alloys and a giant colour display screen in the dash - it's just a pity that the need to please Americans with the world's biggest display has cost the rest of the world an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The price picture is still pretty muddled and there is a lot of extra equipment on cars at the world press preview, including night vision, a drive-drowsiness alert, and the optional sports package with rear-wheel steering.

We ordered this as a filter replacement option that our dealer was asking $99 for . The filter was available commercially and we found the cheapest alternative here on AMAZON . It came within the alotted time and in tact with no damages what so ever . Upon replacing it with the OEM i found the TYC filter to be “cheaper” in feel and appearance than the OEM but it’s sizing and fitment were spot on and that was our main concern . It’s been a couple months now since we replaced it and have noted no difference in performance in any way . So if your looking to save a few bucks and are the DIY kinda person then this is the answer to your problem .

Hubby happened to hear another customer talking to a guy at the dealership about how he didn’t need an air filter change because he could order the filter off of Amazon and change it in about 10 minutes. When the oil change guy said the filter needed changing and quoted a price of $80, my husband said, “Um, no thanks; I think I’ll look into doing it on my own.”
