Toyota's popular Avalon full-size sedan, which got a complete remake just last year, returns for 2012 with no price increases from those in place at the end of the 2011 model year.
The base model begins at $33,195 (plus $760 freight), while the top version, the Limited, is $36,435. Those prices are up nearly $1,000 from when the redesigned 2011 Avalon went on sale, though. The increases came midway through the model year.
No design or content changes were made for the 2012 version, which continues to have such standard features as a leather interior and faux wood-grain interior trim.
With last year's restyling, the Avalon now looks more like a Lexus than a Toyota . It's quite similar in appearance and performance to the more expensive Acura TL, from Honda's luxury brand, and the Buick LaCrosse, which starts about $3,000 less than the Avalon.
Moving the Avalon into the mid-$30,000s puts it into the entry-luxury class and probably takes it out of the price range of a lot of its earlier buyers, who now might have to choose less expensive big sedans such as the LaCrosse or Chrysler 300. Toyota says the median age of the Avalon consumer is 60.

1. Remove the glove box. See GLOVE BOX . Remove the bolt, screws and the glove box frame. See Fig. 1. 3. Remove the filter from the housing and replace it. See Fig. 3 . 4. Install the filter in the reverse order of removal. Ensure arrow marks on edge of filter face in direction of air flow. Make sure that there is no air leaking out of the evaporator. GLOVE BOX Removal & Installation (1998-2002) 1. Remove dashboard center lower cover by detaching the clips. See Fig. 4 . 2. Detach the clips and release the tabs, then remove right fuse box cover.
See Fig. 5 . 3. Remove the screws from the passenger’s dashboard lower cover. See Fig. 6 .Detach the lower left clip first by pulling down on lower cover. Then, detach the remaining clips. Remove the passenger’s dashboard lower cover. 4. Remove the screws from bottom of the glove box. See Fig. 7 . 5. Wrap a flat-tip screwdriver with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts to prevent damage. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver in the notch of the cap, and release the hooks by prying up the cap.See Fig. 8 . 6. Remove upper glove box screws. Release the hooks, then pull down on the striker to remove the glove box. Disconnect the glove box light connector. See Fig. 9 . 7. Install the glove box by reversing the removal procedure. Make sure the glove box light connector is plugged in properly.
