Fits like OEM
Bought this to replace the one in our 2006 VW Jetta TDI. Installation takes all of a few minutes and this part fit perfectly. On a side note - we found the cover to the cabin filter had come off prior to us taking it off, which was dumping cold air on the floorboard. If you have cold feet -...

First off it's a pain in the backside...2 bloody knuckles after slipping off the housing and hitting a metal component was not fun, so my advice is to wear a pair of gloves just in case.

how many miles are on it... that sounds like an odd occurrence. The air compressor is a strange component to go through. I'll look up common problems on the 06 Passat.
you are talking about the A/C compressor?
I thought the car would run without that.

2003 AWM valve inside air filter box - VW Passat Forums ...
Changed my air filter yesterday. Noticed there is some kind of spring loaded flapper valve (normally closed) in the bottom of the filter box. I didn't probe around too much but there didn't seem to be any linkage to it from outside and I didn't see plumbing to it. What is it? Some kind of relief in case the normal intake duct or that screen gets clogged?
